GREEN BAY, Wis. - Former North Dakota State wide receiver Darrius Shepherd has signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers.

Shepherd was invited to the Packers rookie mini-camp last weekend and impressed the Green Bay management to earn a contract with the team.

Shepherd finished his career at NDSU with four national championships, playing in 57 career games. He racked up 188 receptions for 2,841 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns. He is second in school history in receptions and yards and ranks sixth all-time in touchdowns.

The 5-foot-11, 186-pound Blue Springs, Mo., native went undrafted in the NFL Draft two weeks ago. The Packers had room to sign two tryout players and signed Shepherd. Green Bay did not draft a wide receiver and have an opening after the departure of Randall Cobb, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
